Statement From The Leader Of The Opposition

“I am saddened to hear of the passing of Jim Stynes, and my thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends,” Leader of the Opposition Daniel Andrews said today.

“Jim was a true gentleman, a leader and someone who made a real difference to the lives of so many.

“He was a champion footballer, but it was how he used this fame that made Jim a true champion.

“Jim was someone who certainly made his life count, not just as a sportsman but through his significant youth and charity work.

“Dealing with cancer is difficult for anyone, yet Jim did so in the public eye with such grace and courage.

“We are all diminished by his passing. I wish strength to Jim’s family at this difficult time.”
